Dear Virginia,
It is in the wee hours of the morning, I should have been asleep hours ago. However, something compels me to email you even at this late hour. I
couldn't sleep so I decided to post on Ebay a few Suicide Awareness handmade necklaces that I make. Down at the bottom after setting a price, it asks if you would like to donate some of the proceeds to charity. I decided that it was fitting to search for a Suicide Awareness organization since they were necklaces with suicide prevention and awareness messages on them. In my search, I came across a list of organizations from all over the nation. I spent some time methodically going through the list, looking each one up on google. I prayed to my deceased late ex-husband Joseph who took his life
only 10 short months ago for guidance, I knew when I found the right charity, it would just "fit". I came across your story and your website, and I
immediately knew this was the one for me. I am choosing your organization through Giving Works and part of all the proceeds of my suicide awareness
jewelry will go towards your organization. Ever since 1994, I have been involved in Suicide Prevention and Education. By 1994, I had lost 4 friends and loved ones to suicide. On July 6th, 2011, it hit even closer to home. My ex-husband who was also my best friend, part of the family, a step father to my only daughter, a young man of 33 years old, Army veteran, recent college graduate, commander of his local American Legion post and newly remarried with a precious 2 year old baby girl who was the apple of his eye... shot himself to death. My world stopped at that moment, I couldn't breathe, and I felt like I would die from my broken heart. Yet the one thing that has kept me going is my passion and dedication to make a difference and try to save a life. To save other families from the pain that suicide causes in its aftermath. I strive to become a non profit agency within a few years, I know it takes time and I
will have a long road ahead of me. For now I do have two small fundraisers to help raise awareness in my community. I live in Cape May County, NJ. Our county has the HIGHEST suicide rate in all the counties within New Jersey and there is literally no resources available to the community. I hope to change that. It is a huge undertaking and challenge but it is a much needed change.
Thank you for inspiring me and moving me with your story and giving me the encouragement to keep going.

Virginia,
I was in Professor G's class today for your presentation, and am the one who stayed after class to talk to you. I just wanted to thank you for coming to our
class and for staying and speaking with me. For the first time, I felt that someone understood what I was feeling when I turned to suicide. You truly are an
inspiration to me, and I wish that I had learned of your organization sooner. I looked at your website, and will filling out an application for volunteering
with C.A.R.E.S. I would like you to know that I am willing to do anything at all to help out, even if it is something like cleaning toilets! I feel like I can
truly learn so much from a person as yourself, and from your organization as well. I truly hope that I can offer any kind of help to you and C.A.R.E.S.
Thank you again for doing what you are doing, and for inspiring me to conquer my fears and start doing what I know I'm meant to do... To help people in whatever way possible.
